Howard Volunteer Fire Department
Howard is served by a volunteer fire deparment and ambulance service.  The fire station is located on Highway 34, approximately two blocks south of Main Street.

Miner County Volunteer Ambulance Service
The Miner County operates a volunteer ambulance service with the addition of two full-time "on-call" EMT.
